The museum occupies a resolutely modern building in the heart of one of the regions of the Île-de-France that boasts the most prehistoric sites and megalithic monuments. It spans the Palaeolithic to the Neolithic and Bronze and Iron Ages. You will see an exceptional Carolingian boat (834 CE). Archaeological techniques are explained too. The puits de nature, recreated in the surrounding woodland, gives an insight as to the landscapes our ancestors would have lived in.
