The austere vaulted door leading into the Peribleptos Monastery bears a monogram formed by the watchword "Perivleptos" ("seen from everywhere") framed by two lions. Built in the 13C and remodelled in the 14C, the church has an exceptional series of mural paintings illustrating the New Testament and the Life of the Virgin. The harmonious composition, expressive drawing and varied colours of these scenes are as attractive as the movement of the figures and the fine details.
