Of the royal tombs, it is Clytemnestra's Tomb that steals the show. A 35m-long path leads to a door whose sculpted marble lintel has a relieving triangle above it, in this case hollowed out, so placed to relieve the lintel of the weight of the cover. The vault of the vast circular funeral chamber is nearly 13m high. Note the lintel over the door, curved to follow the shape of the dome.
