The Loue runs deep down between wooded gorges carved out of the Jura plateau. The most interesting stretch lies between the splendid source and Ornans. Over the course of just 20km, the river loses some 229m of altitude. Two lookouts, Belvédère de Mouthier and Belvédère du Moine de la Vallée, offer impressive views. As the river runs a steady course, it is easy to canoe down; anglers might be interested to know that it is also one of the best rivers in Europe for fishing.
