Overlooking the calm waters of Biscayne Bay, this Italian Renaissance-style villa was James Deering's winter retreat. He designed it with the decorator Paul Chalfin and architect F Burrall Hoffman Jr. The rooms feature the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and neo-Classical styles. Two floors surround a central courtyard, which is now roofed to protect the priceless art within. Formal gardens (4ha) lie to the mansion's south side.
