The Sanctuary of Asklepios was surrounded by a wall decorated with sacred serpents. It was made up of the tholos, a circular building with a labyrinthine structure that was probably used for sacrifices, the Temple of Asklepios, a dormitory, where Asklepios healed the sick while they slept, a theatre and sports facilities. The stadium's track hosted the Asclepieia, festivities which also included poetry and music competitions.
