Mainz Regional Museum gives an overview of Rhineland civilisation since the prehistoric period. The lapidary section houses more than 300 items from the Roman era, notably Jupiter's Column, a copy of which stands on the Deutschhaus-Platz in front of the old commander's residence of the Teutonic Knights, now the headquarters of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional parliament. Don't miss the medieval and Baroque collections, the Höchst porcelain, or the Art Nouveau-style glass.
