Access to the other side of the river in Maastricht is via Sint-Servaasbrug (13C), one of the oldest bridges in the country. Business activities were concentrated in the historic district of Wyck, still the site of lovely patrician houses from the 17C and 18C (Rechtstraat) and home to numerous art and antique shops. After many years of neglect, the district has been given a new lease of life and its cafés and restaurants are very popular with local youngsters.
