Derry Town Hall stands opposite Shipquay Gate. The fine red sandstone Gothic Revival edifice boasts a clock tower, reminiscent of Big Ben. The ground-floor is home to a permanent exhibition that charts the history of the Plantation of Ulster. The committee room sports symbolist stained-glass windows restored after a bomb wreaked serious damage in 1972. A modern stained-glass window, near the Guildhall entrance, evokes Bloody Sunday.
