Running from north to south through Mayfair, this street has existed since Tudor times, but it was Sir Thomas Bond who developed New Bond Street in 1720. The writers Sterne and Boswell, the painter Thomas Lawrence, Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton all lived here, as did Lord Byron and Beau Brummell. Today, Bond Street is the street associated with elegance and luxury and is lined by boutiques selling leather goods, chic stationery sellers, perfume and antique shops, art boutiques and leading international fashion designers.
