Begun in the second half of the 12C and finished around 1230, this is one France's oldest Gothic cathedrals and its very homogeneous façade is one of the finest (its towers were the pride of the presumed architect, Villard de Honnecourt). The nave, whose vault is divided into six parts, soars four storeys high. The attractive stained-glass windows and icon of Sainte Face de Laon are worth a closer look.
