In the heart of the Parc régional du Haut-Languedoc in the Mont Caroux mountains, a footpath follows a thunderous torrent between high rocks as it drops in waterfalls and pauses in calm pools, the largest of which is the gouffre du Cerisier. Further along, the path opens into the majestic cirque de Farrières, surmounted by jagged needle outcrops. The path at the bottom of the gorge leads to Héric, a secluded hamlet with lauze-stone roofs.
