Rebuilt three times since 1895 as a result of shifting dunes, this lighthouse, built in 1905, stands imposingly at the Pointe de la Coubre, marking the entrance to the Gironde, the largest estuary in Europe. After climbing the 300 steps to the top, admire the superb view of the Cordouan lighthouse out to sea, the Grave headland, and the Côte de Beauté as far as the Meschers cliffs.
