Isla Cabritos, a 24km2 stretch of land, unfolds in the centre of Lago Enriquillo and is now a national park. Devoid of drinking water and unsuitable for human life, the island is a paradise for wildlife. It is in particular home to two endangered species, the Ricord iguana and the rhinoceros iguana, which thrive in the vegetation characteristic of arid zones. Flocks of birds fill the sky during migration periods.
