The Gorges de la Falaise hike (2hr there and back with swim) starts with a long descent down into the valley before reaching the entrance to the gorges. The view, on arrival, of the River Falaise that has cut a 120m-deep path through a lava flow (andesite) is quite breathtaking. You continue along the sunken riverbed almost in the half-light, because the sky is no more than a thin strip of blue above your head. You finally reach a natural pool and waterfall. The River Falaise is also suitable for canyoning.
