An important landmark for the city's inhabitants, visible from all over Brussels, the dome of the world's largest Art Deco building stands at a height of 90m atop the Koekelberg hill. Started in 1905, this brick, concrete and stone basilica was consecrated in 1951 and finished in 1970. Inside the gilt-yellow terracotta-covered walls circumscribe a huge space. Note the ciborium above the high altar, on top of which stands a bronze calvary and four angels by Harry Elström.
