Formerly a royal hunting ground surrounding the hunting lodge Eremitageslottet (1736), the prairies and woods of Jaegersborg Dyrehave are one of Copenhageners' favourite places to take time out - for a walk, picnic, horseriding, golf or even skiing. Along Klampenborgvej is Denmark's oldest amusement park (over 100 different attractions, a choice of restaurants, entertainment), Dyrehavsbakken, whose origins are thought to go back to a 16C fair.
