Just a stone's throw from the port of Kaleköy lies the 7km-long island of Kekova, which almost completely surrounds the bay. This is another location where history and nature come together to create a delightful landscape: surrounded by small islets, Kekova was used as a stone quarry during Antiquity and the island is now home to numerous ruins dotted among the bushes. Most of the ruins have not been cleared and remain difficult to make out, with the exception of those near the shore to the west of the island, where remains of houses and the quaysides of a Lycian port can be seen submerged in the water.
