Since 1976, this centre on a former marsh in Hunawihr has devoted itself to the preservation and re-introduction of local species into their original habitat, including the famous white stork so synonymous with Alsace. In this verdant 5ha setting, some 200 specimens cohabit with the large European hamster and the European otter, which has disappeared from French rivers. A glass tank enables visitors to watch the feeding techniques of these animals in action, as well as cormorants, penguins and seals.
