This simple 1871 Victorian cottage, which was home to writer Harriet Elisabeth Beecher Stowe (1811-96) from 1873 until her death, is a stone's throw from Mark Twain's House. Stowe's 1852 novel Uncle Tom's Cabin represented an unprecedented denunciation of slavery and became a bestseller even as far as England. The airy interior contains Stowe family furnishings and memorabilia.
