Housed in an 18C residence (Hannemahuis), this museum focuses on the history of Harlingen and its maritime past, which is explained through a delightful collection of regional furniture, seascapes, engravings, collections of Chinese porcelain, Friesian silverware and models of boats. A separate room is devoted to Simon Vestdijk, the famous writer who heralded from Harlingen. The statue of his literary hero, Anton Wachter, can be seen at the end of the street, near the canal.
