This vast shaded esplanade extends south of the Waterpoort, a water gate that was torn down in 1894 to widen the road. There you'll find the pier for boat rides. This spot provides a pretty view of the Dalempoort, the mill and the river. To the southeast, on the opposite shore, you can make out among the greenery the high rock of the church at Woudrichem and the pink castle at Loevestein.
