The House of Alijn is housed in the Alijn children's hospital (1363), Ghent's only almshouse. The museum illustrates the folk arts and traditions of Flanders through a collection of objects and photos, as well as reconstructed shops, interiors and craftsmen's workshops from the 1900s. The superb interior garden, a real oasis of calm in the city centre, is a pleasant place to stop for a rest. The museum also presents a puppet theatre with traditional figures.
