This old church dedicated to St Ambrose is a Baroque gem which was entirely rebuilt by the Jesuits at the turn of the 16C and 17C. Built by Tibaldi in 1597, it boasts a sumptuous marble and gilded stucco interior and important works of art. Admire Guido Reni's Assumption, the Crucifixion by Simon Vouet, as well as two fine paintings by Rubens: Circumcision, painted for the high altar, and The Miracles of St Ignatius.
