The tour of the Grand Apartments in the Château de Fontainebleau takes in the superb François I gallery. Built between 1528 and 1530, the gallery is decorated with frescoes and stuccoes by Rosso. The king's emblem, the salamander, is visible everywhere. The tour continues up the King's Staircase, which was built in 1749 under Louis XV and depicts the story of Alexander the Great. You will also see the lavish ballroom (30m by 10m), before finally reaching the Sovereigns' Apartments themselves, which were built around 1565.
