The Parque Nacional de Aigüestortes Estany provides a stunningly beautiful picture with its peaks outlined on the horizon. It is named after the countless mountain streams, marshes and waterfalls (aigües tortes means winding water in Catalan). Water is the star of this park which counts over 200 lakes or estanys, of glacial origins, and rivers running through moss-filled meadows, all of which in a site that is between 1,500m and 3,000m above sea level.
