Surrounded by 16C walls that were built under Charles V's reign, the urban fabric of the upper town has preserved and incorporated the site's different construction phases. Old palaces are tucked away here; shops and outdoor cafés are to be found in the winding little streets. The Bastion of Santa Llúcia, at the northeastern end of the wall, is a good vantage point over the port and within easy reach of the Esglesia de Sant Domingo.
