This castle enjoys an idyllic remote site. It was in ruins and abandoned in 1719 (Jacobite uprising) but was completely rebuilt in the 20C. The rooms open to the public (troop barracks, banquet hall, living quarters and kitchen) showcase a variety of mementoes linked to the MacRaes, who were the bodyguards of the MacKenzie family. Due to their unique situation, the exterior ramparts command sweeping views over the three lochs.
