A visit to the Sanctuary of Apollo begins with the Agora, a small rectangular esplanade. Four steps lead up to the main entrance of the temenos, the sacred precinct of the sanctuary. With its nine doors, it gives visitors access, via the Sacred Way, to the area containing the votive offerings, the Treasury of the Athenians, a small Doric temple, and leads to the retaining wall covered in inscriptions to the Temple of Apollo. Behind, there is the tiered seating of the theatre, from the top of which there are magnificent views of the site.
