In the cool valley of the Boutonne River, Dampierre is home to a Renaissance château (1550) surrounded by moats with harmoniously stacked galleries. Ravaged by a fire in 2002, this gem has undergone a complete and remarkable restoration. Note its magical upper gallery, which has a coffered ceiling with 93 sculpted panels in the indentations, and visit the exhibition on Dalí and alchemy, not to mention the extraordinary gardens, designed as an echo of the building.
