The grounds of the Chateau de Brécy are highly ornamental. Go through the chateau to the terraced gardens, a rare example of a 17C garden in France, which stand on the hill (admiring on the way the sumptuous 17C portal). Box trees clipped into intricate patterns and sculptural flowers, two-headed dogs, fountains, balusters and a tall, ornate gate all combine to paint a harmonious and pleasing picture.
