Located 13km south of the Loop along Lake Michigan's shoreline, this 242ha park now has playing fields, lagoons and lush vegetation. Famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (designer of Central Park in New York City) first laid out the park in 1870. He later redesigned and completed it for the 1893 World's Fair, creating a series of lagoons and ponds as its centrepiece. It now also encompasses a golf course.
