In the 19C, the district of Pilsen was home to the largest community of Bohemians in the country. Over the years, Germans, Irish, Poles and Lithuanians passed through, and today Pilsen is home to Chicago's largest Hispanic community. Between Halsted Street and 18th Street, it also attracts artists, who open their studios to the public each year for the Pilsen East Artists Open House (around late September).
