The life of Dominique Vivant Denon, artistic adviser to Napoleon I could have been a novel... and Philippe Sollers wrote it! The museum, housed in an annexe (18 C) to the former Couvent des Ursulines, has a significant collection of 17C to 20C paintings, as well as archaeological artefacts, most of which were found during underwater excavations or by dreding the Saône. Don't miss the very realistic Gallo-Roman stone group: a lion striking down a gladiator.
