Once a hunting lodge of Chambord, Beauregard is home to a remarkable Galerie des Illustres. In 1617, former minister, Paul Ardier, started this collection of portraits which was to be continued over 60 years by three generations of his family. The collection has survived intact, comprising 327 portraits which chart three centuries of French political life. Also of interest is the cabinet des Grelots, a charming mid-16C room by Scibec da Carpi.
