Krakatau, one of the most famous volcanoes in the world, stands at the entrance to the Sunda Strait. An exceptionally powerful eruption in 1883 provoked a tsunami. Out of the initial range, which literally exploded into pieces, three islands, covered in vegetation, emerged from the caldera: Lang, Rakata and Sertung. In the centre rises a volcanic pipe, an arid rock, which emerged in 1928. Enquire before setting off on an excursion.
