The unadorned architecture is testament to the hard lives of the former Christian knights of Cáceres. Only a few details (coats of arms, ribs, cornices) decorate the austere façades, which you will see as you stroll past houses such as Casa de las Cigüeñas, Casa de las Veletas and Casa del Comendador de Alcuéscar, as well as the Palacio de los Golfines de Abajo. It is also worth seeing the Plaza Santa María, the heart of the old city.
