The Lipótváros district is named after Leopold II, King of Hungary from 1790 to 1792, and is part of the historic centre of Pest, along with Belváros. It is the location of the handsome Parliament House, Ethnographic Museum, St Stephen's Basilica, Gresham Palace and the Hungarian Academy of Science, among others. With its monuments, tree-lined squares and antique shops along Falk Miksa Street, the neighbourhood is ideally suited to exploring on foot.
