Once the second entrance gate to the city, it was rebuilt in 1936 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the liberation of Buda. A plaque placed on the inside of the door honours the soldiers of different nationalities who gave their lives to free the city from the yoke of the Ottoman Empire. The monument of the conquest of Buda (1936), which shows an corner with the features of a woman brandishing the double apostolic, symbolises the victory of Pope Innocent XI's Christian armies.
