The MIM occupies two buildings: the splendid Old England Art Nouveau building (1899), by Paul Saintenoy, and Barnabé Guimard's neo-Classical building. Some 7 000 instruments from all over the world and from every era make up the collection, which is displayed over four floors. Headsets are available for visitors to listen to music ranging from carnival songs to famous arias, played on the most rudimentary to the most modern electronic instruments. Fabulous view from the restaurant at the top.
