The Gothic building altered in the Renaissance style (17C) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Note the Gothic statues of Charlemagne and the Seven Electors on the main façade. On one corner of the west wing is a modern bronze sculpture group of the Town Musicians of Bremen, animal characters from the popular Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Inside, note the spiral staircase of the council chamber, and the Güldenkammer, with its lavish leather wall hangings enriched with gold.
