The atmosphere of the whole area, with its steep streets going right up to the S'Iscala e'Sa Rosa stairs, its arcades and little squares, is reminiscent of both Liguria and Tuscany. The slightly dilapidated feel does not detract from its charm. The first three "slopes" on the way down - Via Ultima Costa, Via Belvedere and Via Montenegro - are lined with pretty three-storey houses with colourful shutters. In front of them, you can see women concentrating on the delicate work of making "filet", the traditional Bosa lace.
