With its seven floors and an area of 60 000m2, this shop is the biggest in Europe after Harrods in London! Built in 1906 by Emil Schaudt, but extended and altered many times, it was designed to attract wealthy customers from the city's expanding western districts. The U-Bahn station here was built from 1911-13 by Alfred Grenander: note its Classical style and the fine details inside. The cruciform design of the building helps to orientate passengers towards the different train lines.
