This museum provides an insight into the work of German artist Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) through her paintings, engravings and sculptures. A series of well-known posters from the 1920s, such as Nie wieder Krieg (Never Again War), demonstrate the artist's political involvement. The museum has developed from the collection of Hans Pels-Leusden (1908-1993), an amateur artist and art dealer.
