The 67m-high Siegessaule (Victory Column) stands in the centre of the Großer Stern square, at the meeting point of five avenues. Built opposite the Reichstag to commemorate Prussian victories, the column was moved here in 1938. The graceful allegory at the top of the column, known as the Golden Else, was made famous by Wim Wenders' film Wings of Desire. The top of the column boasts magnificent views of Potsdamer Platz, Moabit, the Hansa district and Kreuzberg.
