Aldo Rossi and Xavier Fabre designed all of the buildings in brick and granite to blend in with their natural surroundings. The gallery is reminiscent of a nave, while the lighthouse staircase leads up to a lovely view over the lake. Both structures host temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. In the woodland behind the centre, the Sculpture Park showcases work by artists including David Nash, Kimio Tsuchiya, Dominique Bailly and Jean-Pierre Uhlen. Paths around the island offer pleasant walks dotted with vistas and viewpoints.
