Go through the Barbudo arch, one of the only vestiges of the fortified walls. Founded in the 16C by Rodrigo López and Juan de Ávila, the university served until 1827, before becoming a secondary education establishment in 1875. You enter via the chapel, which nowadays serves as an exhibition room and auditorium. Take in the charming Renaissance patio. You can visit the classroom where poet and university professor Antonio Machado once taught.
