The collections of Frieder Burda (heir to the German press group) have been exhibited three times annually since 2004, when the museum opened. Works by Picasso, American and post-war German artists are displayed in this light and spacious building designed by Richard Meier. The architect created tableaux of his own through the clever use of space and natural views. The off-white aluminium façade is in perfect harmony with its grounds, alongside the National Art Gallery, which is also an exhibition venue.
