This basilica was built out of gilded stone during the mid 13C, on the site where the statue of a miraculous Virgin was discovered, and which became a place of pilgrimage in the 12C. The basilica built in a Gothic flamboyant style was completed in the 15C. It has a small building on the left side of the Southern portal, called the Recevresse, intended to receive the pilgrims' offerings. The inside designed in the Champagne style, holds a stone statue of N.-D. of Avioth (1100).
