The little Kaisariani Monastery, founded in the 11C on the slopes of Mt Hymettus, is a charming spot, with its well-preserved buildings surrounding a garden replete with flowers and birds. Inside the church, dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, magnificent 16C and 17C frescoes have replaced the original paintings. They offer a touching testimony to the life of the monks in the 17C. On the other side of the courtyard are the monastic buildings.
